Seven are recognized: S. p. albescens (Hulst, 1896), S. p. blattifera (Rindge, 1968), S. p. dejecta (Hulst, 1896), S. p. lita (Rindge, 1968), S. p. pulmonaria (nominate), S. p. satisfacta (Barnes & McDunnough, 1916), and S. p. vicaria (Rindge, 1968).

Taxonomic History

Originally described as Cymatophora pulmonaria by Grote in 1881, later transferred to the Stenoporpia.
