Cocytius duponchel is a large sphinx moth ( Sphingidae) found in tropical and subtropical lowlands from the southern United States through Central America and across much of South America, as well as the Caribbean. It was originally described as Amphonyx duponchel by Poey in 1832 and is currently accepted under the Cocytius. The is rare in the northern parts of its range, including Florida and Texas.
