Prepops is the largest in the tribe Restheniini ( Mirinae, Miridae), containing approximately 190–198 described of plant bugs. The genus exhibits a predominantly Neotropical distribution with 86% of species occurring in this region, while about 11% extend into the Nearctic. Biogeographic analysis reveals high in subtropical regions, with 23 identified areas of spanning the Nearctic, Mexican Transition Zone, Caribbean, and South American subregions.
