Piezura is a small of small in the , distinguished from other fanniid genera by its . The genus contains five described with distribution primarily in the Holarctic region. Two species, P. pardalina and P. graminicola, occur in Europe. Recent taxonomic revision has clarified , redescribed all species, and provided illustrated and identification for both sexes.
