Acrotona is a of rove beetles in the Staphylinidae, first described by Thomson in 1859. The genus contains at least 30 described . Recent taxonomic work has identified new species, including Acrotona brachyoptera from New Brunswick, Canada. Members of this genus belong to the Aleocharinae, a diverse group within the rove beetles.
