Cercyon herceus

Cercyon herceus is a small water scavenger beetle in the Hydrophilidae, described by Smetana in 1978. The occurs across much of North America, with records from Canada and the United States. Two are recognized: C. h. herceus and C. h. frigidus. Like other members of the , it likely inhabits moist, decomposing organic matter near water sources.
