Cymbiodyta dorsalis is a water scavenger beetle in the Hydrophilidae, first described by Motschulsky in 1859. The was previously known under the synonym C. morata (Horn, 1890), which was synonymized with C. dorsalis in a 1974 revision of the . It belongs to the C. dorsalis species group within Cymbiodyta. The species is distributed across western North America and into Central America.
