Brachyderini is a tribe of weevils within the Entiminae (broad-nosed weevils), characterized by a relatively short, broad rostrum compared to other weevil groups. The tribe contains approximately 28 distributed across the Holarctic region, with notable genera including Brachyderes, Strophosoma, and Neliocarus. Members of this tribe are primarily associated with temperate forest and woodland .

Etymology

The tribal name derives from the Brachyderes, from Greek 'brachys' (short) and 'deres' (neck), referring to the relatively short rostrum characteristic of this group.

Taxonomic History

Established by Carl Johan Schönherr in 1826, the tribe has undergone various revisions. Modern molecular studies continue to refine its boundaries within the polyphyletic Entiminae.
