Taxonomic note

The name 'Acalyptus' has been used in other contexts; notably, the pinyon needle scale was formerly classified as Matsucoccus acalyptus (now Matsucoccus acalyptus is a synonym of Matsucoccus pini). This is a different organism (a insect in Matsucoccidae) and should not be confused with the weevil Acalyptus.
