Megascelis is a of leaf beetles (Chrysomelidae) in the Eumolpinae, containing approximately 140 described . The genus occurs in both North and South America. Its tribal placement has been revised historically, formerly treated as a distinct subfamily (Megascelidinae) but now classified within Eumolpini according to current systems. The genus name has a complex nomenclatural history with competing authorship claims between Latreille (1825) and Sturm (1826).
