These belong to the tribe Anisodactylini within the Harpalinae. Members of this genus are found in North America, particularly in the northeastern United States.

The Amphasia was established by Newman in 1838 and currently contains two : Amphasia interstitialis (Say, 1823) and Amphasia sericea (T.W. Harris, 1828). Both species were originally described under other genera before being transferred to Amphasia.
