Tylos niveus is a coastal isopod in the Tylidae, first described by Budde-Lund in 1885. A 2000 redescription provided a new for the and documented its expanded latitudinal distribution. The species has been recorded from sandy beach in Brazil, with a new occurrence reported from Taquaras, Santa Catarina, extending its known range to 27°S.
