Niambia is a of woodlice (terrestrial isopods) in the Platyarthridae, established by Budde-Lund in 1904. The genus comprises at least 20 described distributed across the Afrotropical Region. Three troglobitic species were described in 2021 from caves in Botswana and Namibia, representing the first cave-dwelling members of the genus. Most Niambia species are epigean and inhabit semi-arid environments.

Identification

Troglobitic (N. botswanaensis, N. ghaubensis, N. namibiaensis) can be distinguished from epigean by the absence of body pigmentation and —classic troglomorphic traits. Epigean species lack these reductions and occur in surface .
