Gertschius is a of scorpions in the Vaejovidae, established in 2007 by Graham and Soleglad. The genus is named in honor of arachnologist Willis J. Gertsch. As a member of Vaejovidae, it belongs to one of the most diverse families in North America. within this genus are found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico.
