Scolopocryptops rubiginosus is a centipede species in the order Scolopendromorpha. It has been studied extensively for its unusual locomotor capabilities, demonstrating the ability to dynamically switch gait patterns and reverse the direction of locomotory waves—a capability previously assumed to be fixed within species. This species occurs across East Asia and has been introduced to North America.
