Gnamptogenys hartmani is a specialist agro-predator ant species that attacks colonies of fungus-growing ants. It is native to the Americas, with records spanning from the southern United States through Central America to South America. The species is considered remarkably scarce throughout its known range, with most records concentrated in Texas, Louisiana, and parts of South America.
