  • Gryllus texensis

    Texas Trilling Cricket

Gryllus texensis is a field cricket species described by Cade and Otte in 2000, distinguished from the morphologically similar Gryllus rubens by differences in call song structure. The species was previously misidentified as Gryllus integer in collections from the southeastern United States. It belongs to a closely related complex of Gryllus field crickets and is phylogenetically most closely related to G. rubens based on mitochondrial DNA analysis.
