Chilostigma is a of in the Limnephilidae, tribe Chilostigmini. Most are restricted to Scandinavia and Finland. The genus includes notable exceptions: Chilostigma itascae is to Minnesota, USA, and Chilostigma sieboldi has a disjunct distribution spanning Europe and Hokkaido, Japan. Larvae of at least one species have been documented from spring-fed streams.

Spring-fed streams have been documented as larval for Chilostigma sieboldi in the Italian Alps.
