Microtheoris

Microtheoris is a of small in the Crambidae, Odontiinae. It was described by Edward in 1932. The genus contains two recognized : Microtheoris ophionalis (Walker, 1859) and Microtheoris vibicalis (Zeller, 1873). A third species, Microtheoris sesquialteralis, has been reclassified elsewhere. These moths are part of the diverse group characterized by their slender bodies and often distinctive patterns.

Taxonomic history

The was established by Edward in 1932. Two were later transferred into it: Microtheoris ophionalis, originally described by Walker in 1859 as Botis ophionalis, and Microtheoris vibicalis, originally described by Zeller in 1873 as Botis vibicalis. Microtheoris sesquialteralis (Zeller, 1873) has been removed from this genus.
