Originally described as Boarmia excelsaria by Strecker in 1899, later transferred to Stenoporpia.

Subspecies

Two recognized: Stenoporpia excelsaria excelsaria (nominate form) and Stenoporpia excelsaria pullata Rindge, 1968.
