Sphex dorsalis

Sphex dorsalis is a thread-waisted digger wasp in the Sphecidae. average approximately 19 mm in length, with both sexes similar in size. The ranges from the southern United States through Mexico, Central America, and into South America. Like other Sphex species, it is solitary and nests in soil.
