Taxonomic History
Aspilota contains two recognized subgenera: Aspilota (Eusynaldis) and Aspilota (Synaldis), both previously treated as separate . Eusynaldis was described by Zaykov & Fischer in 1982, and Synaldis by Förster in 1863.
Species Diversity
Two new were described from Denmark in 2016: Aspilota leptoarticulata and A. grandis. A new species, A. murieli, was described from Argentina in 2025, representing the first record of the in that country.
