Ammoplanina is a subtribe of aphid wasps within the Crabronidae, containing approximately 10 and at least 130 described . These are small, solitary that specialize on aphids and related hemipterans. Phylogenetic studies have suggested this group may represent the sister lineage to the superfamily (bees and sphecoid wasps), leading some classifications to elevate it to family rank as Ammoplanidae to maintain monophyly of families. The subtribe was established by Evans in 1959.

Taxonomic Uncertainty

The phylogenetic position of Ammoplanina remains debated. Some analyses place it as sister to , which has prompted proposals to recognize it as a distinct (Ammoplanidae) rather than a subtribe within Crabronidae. This taxonomic instability reflects ongoing research into early apoid relationships.

Size and Rarity

With only 38 iNaturalist observations, Ammoplanina appear to be rarely encountered or photographed, likely due to their small size and specialized preferences.
