Merycomyia is a of deer flies in the Tabanidae, established by Hine in 1912. The genus contains two recognized : Merycomyia whitneyi and Merycomyia brunnea, both to North America. Members of this genus are biting flies in the Chrysopsinae, tribe Bouvieromyiini.

Taxonomic note

Merycomyia is classified within the tribe Bouvieromyiini of the Chrysopsinae, distinguishing it from the more commonly encountered deer flies in the tribe Chrysopsini.

Species composition

The comprises two : Merycomyia whitneyi Johnson, 1904 and Merycomyia brunnea Stone, 1953. The latter is sometimes referred to as the Brown Merycomyian Tabanid Fly.
