Axysta extera

Axysta extera is a species of shore fly in the family Ephydridae, a family of small to minute flies commonly found in association with aquatic or semi-aquatic habitats. The genus Axysta contains few described species, and A. extera is among the lesser-documented members of this group. Like other ephydrids, it is presumed to inhabit environments near water sources where larval development occurs.
