Hydrophorinae is a of long-legged flies within the Dolichopodidae. The subfamily is currently divided into five tribes: Hydrophorini, Aphrosylini, Epithalassiini, Hypocharassini, and Thinophilini. Molecular phylogenetic analyses have found evidence that Hydrophorinae in its current circumscription is polyphyletic, indicating that its classification may require revision. The subfamily contains over 30 with diverse ecological associations.
