Bibio alienus

Bibio alienus is a of march fly in the Bibionidae, described by McAtee in 1923. Like other members of the Bibio, are medium-sized flies that emerge in spring, with males forming conspicuous swarms. The species shares the family's characteristic adaptations, with females using modified forelegs to deposit in soil. Larval stages develop in soil, feeding on decaying organic matter.
