Diogmites crudelis is a of robber fly ( Asilidae) in the Dasypogoninae. It belongs to the Diogmites, commonly known as "hanging thieves" for their distinctive habit of suspending themselves from their front or middle legs while manipulating prey with the remaining legs. The species was described by Bromley in 1936. Like other robber flies, it is a predatory insect that hunts other insects.
