Alphitobiini is a tribe of darkling beetles within the Tenebrionidae, established by Reitter in 1917. The tribe comprises approximately eight extant plus one fossil genus, distributed across tropical Africa, the Palearctic, Indomalaya, Oceania, and Australasia. The genus Alphitobius is the most widespread, occurring across multiple continents. Several genera exhibit restricted distributions, such as Ardoinia and Epipedodema in tropical Africa, and Guanobius in Indomalaya.

Genera composition

The tribe contains eight extant : Alphitobius Stephens, 1829; Ardoinia Kaszab, 1969; Diaclina Jacquelin du Val, 1861; Epipedodema Gebien, 1921; Guanobius Grimm, 2008; Hoplopeltis Fairmaire, 1894; and Peltoides Laporte, 1833. One fossil genus, †Alphitopsis Kirejtshuk, Nabozhenko & Nel, 2011, is also assigned to this tribe.
