Taxonomic history

Prateini was erected in 2023 by Aalbu, Smith, and colleagues during a comprehensive revision of the Lagriinae. The tribe was separated from other lagriine tribes based on morphological and molecular evidence. This recent establishment means that much of the natural history of constituent remains documented under older, broader classifications.
