Trigonurus is a of rove beetles and the sole genus in the monogeneric Trigonurinae. Approximately nine have been described, distributed across the Holarctic region. The genus was revised by Blackwelder in 1941 and has received taxonomic attention for its distinctive subfamily status within the large Staphylinidae.

Distribution

Holarctic region. Seven occur in northern America, two species in the western Palaearctic, and two species have been described from China.

Taxonomic note

Trigonurus is the only in the Trigonurinae, making this subfamily monogeneric. The subfamily was established by Reiche in 1866.

Nine are currently recognized: T. asiaticus, T. bruzasi, T. caelatus, T. crotchii, T. dilaticollis, T. edwardsi, T. mellyi, T. rugosus, and T. sharpi.
