Taxonomic history
Originally described as Quedius vernix LeConte, 1878. Transferred to Anaquedius based on phylogenetic and morphological studies distinguishing this from the large genus Quedius. The genus Anaquedius was established to accommodate previously placed in Quedius that share distinctive characteristics of the and other morphological features.
Research status
The Anaquedius remains taxonomically understudied. Most , including A. vernix, lack modern species-level revisions or ecological studies. The 34 iNaturalist observations suggest it is encountered infrequently by naturalists, possibly due to small size, cryptic habits, or association with specific microhabitats.
