Conoplectus is a of ant-loving beetles in the Staphylinidae, established by Brendel in 1888. The genus contains five described , all described or redescribed by Carlton in 1983 except for C. canaliculatus, which was originally described by LeConte in 1849. Members of this genus belong to the Pselaphinae, a diverse group of small rove beetles commonly associated with ants and other social insects.

Taxonomic history

Four of the five (C. acornus, C. bicentennialus, C. excavoides, and C. susae) were described by Carlton in 1983, suggesting a relatively recent taxonomic revision of the . The fifth species, C. canaliculatus, was originally described by LeConte in 1849 under a different genus and later transferred to Conoplectus.
