Earota is a of rove beetles in the Staphylinidae, Aleocharinae, tribe Geostibini. The genus was established by Mulsant and Rey in 1873. As a member of Geostibini, Earota belongs to a group of aleocharine rove beetles often associated with soil and ground-dwelling . The genus contains relatively few described and remains poorly studied in comparison to more speciose aleocharine genera.
