Platycholeus is a of small carrion beetles in the Leiodidae, established by Horn in 1880. The genus contains at least two described : Platycholeus leptinoides (Crotch, 1874) and Platycholeus opacellus (Fall, 1909). Members of this genus are classified within the tribe Leptodirini, subtribe Platycholeina, a group associated with subterranean and carrion-associated .
