Drapetes is a of click beetles (Elateridae) established by Dejean in 1821. The genus belongs to the Lissominae and tribe Lissomini, a group characterized by certain morphological features associated with their clicking mechanism. Members of this genus are part of the diverse Elateridae , which contains approximately 10,000 described worldwide. The genus name Drapetes is also used for a plant genus in Thymelaeaceae, creating a homonym situation across kingdoms.
