The genus contains two recognized : Amalorrhynchus melanarius (originally described by Stephens in 1831) and Amalorrhynchus lukjanovitshi (described by Korotyaev in 1980). Records indicate presence in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

Taxonomic history

The was erected by Edmund Reitter in 1913. The type , Amalorrhynchus melanarius, was originally described under a different genus by Stephens in 1831. The second species, A. lukjanovitshi, was added much later by Korotyaev in 1980.
