Stereodermus is a of primitive weevils in the Brentidae, comprising more than 40 described . The genus occurs in both the Neotropical and Oriental regions, with substantial diversity in Central and South America. Species are characterized by elongated, cylindrical bodies typical of brentid weevils. Taxonomic work has focused heavily on the Neotropical fauna, with recent revisions describing new species and resolving synonymies.
