Protheca is a of small beetles in the Ptinidae (formerly often placed in Anobiidae), established by LeConte in 1865. The genus contains at least three described found in North America, with records from the southwestern United States and Mexico. Southwestern United States and Mexico. Protheca guadalupensis is known from Guadalupe Island, Mexico. Protheca hispida occurs in the southwestern United States. Protheca plicatipennis has been recorded from Mexico.
