Neobidessus youngi

Neobidessus youngi is a small diving beetle species in the family Dytiscidae, first described by Leech in 1948. It belongs to the tribe Bidessini, a group of minute dytiscids commonly referred to as "bidessines" that are typically found in shallow, vegetated aquatic habitats. The genus Neobidessus contains several species distributed across the Americas, with N. youngi recorded from Middle America. Like other members of its family, this species is aquatic as both larva and adult, respiring atmospheric air stored beneath the elytra.
