Found from the southern United States (including Florida and Texas) through Mexico, Central America, and South America as far south as Chile and Argentina. Individual have more restricted ranges: some are limited to single countries (e.g., A. braziliensis, A. gigas, A. xingu in Brazil), while others span multiple regions (e.g., A. cephalotes in Central and South America). The Caribbean is represented by A. puncticollis in the Lesser Antilles, Hispaniola, and Cuba.
