Selenops insularis

Keyserling, 1881

Selenops insularis is a of wall crab spider in the Selenopidae, commonly known as a 'flatty' due to its dorsoventrally flattened body adapted for living in narrow crevices. The species was described by Keyserling in 1881. It occurs in the United States and the Greater Antilles, representing one of the few Selenopidae species with a trans-Caribbean distribution. Members of this are known for their ability to run sideways on vertical surfaces and even ceilings, aided by their flattened and specialized leg adaptations.
