Sosticus is a of ground in the Gnaphosidae, established by R. V. Chamberlin in 1922. The genus contains ten described distributed across North America, Europe, and South Asia. Most species are known from India, with additional representatives in the United States, Canada, and Europe. One species, Sosticus loricatus, has been to North America from its Palearctic range.
