  • Prokoenenia wheeleri

    microscorpion, microwhip scorpion

Prokoenenia wheeleri is a species of microwhip scorpion (order Palpigradi) in the family Prokoeneniidae. These minute arachnids are among the smallest of all arachnids, typically measuring less than 3 mm in length. They inhabit moist, dark microhabitats and are rarely encountered due to their cryptic lifestyle and diminutive size. The species was described in 1901 and represents one of the few named species in this poorly studied arachnid order.
