Stenoptinea is a of small fungus moths in the Meessiidae ( Meessiinae), originally described as a subgenus of Homosetia before being elevated to generic status. The genus contains three recognized : S. auriferella, S. cyaneimarmorella (syn. S. angustipennis), and S. ornatella. These are part of the diverse Tineoidea superfamily, whose larvae typically feed on decaying organic matter including fungi, lichens, and detritus.
