2Andrena pertristis is a solitary mining bee in the Andrenidae, commonly known as the Mournful Mining Bee or Sad Miner . It is native to North America. The was described by Cockerell in 1905 and includes two recognized : Andrena pertristis pertristis and Andrena pertristis carliniformis.

Life Cycle
As a member of the Andrena, this is expected to follow the typical mining bee : solitary females excavate underground burrows, provision nest with pollen and nectar, lay , and seal cells with soil. Larvae develop underground and emerge as the following spring. This inference is based on genus-level traits common to all Andrena species.
