Distinguished from other Ampulicidae by the complete, undivided antennal platform and absence of metallic coloration. Wing venation is diagnostic: M and Cu diverge from M+Cu well after cu-a; SM I is distinctly shorter than twice SM II; first intersubmarginal veinlet is angled; SM III is trapezoidal to triangular; recurrent are positioned with 1m-cu in SM II and 2m-cu in SM III.
