Taxonomic history
The was erected by Maurice T. James in 1937. The type , Dicyphoma schaefferi, was originally described as Clitellaria schaefferi by Coquillett in 1904 before being transferred to the new genus. Dicyphoma ryckmani was described by James in 1962 from California specimens.
