Elater abruptus is a of click beetle in the Elateridae. It is found in eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. Like other click beetles, it possesses the distinctive prosternal spine and mesosternal notch mechanism that produces an audible click when the flexes its body. The species was described by Thomas Say in 1825.

Distribution

Known from the Canadian provinces of Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Quebec, as well as the U.S. state of Rhode Island. The appears to be restricted to the northeastern Nearctic region.
