Taxonomic note

The was established by Kiesenwetter in 1858. Several were originally described under other genera and later transferred to Liotrichus, including multiple species described by Eschscholtz (1829) and LeConte (1853-1863). Two species were described by W.J. Brown in 1935 from North America.
